The association Hlhuvuko in Mukhotweni is AfricaWorks oldest association. Hlhuvuko began in 2006 with the World Relief Vurhonga project. The volunteers were trained on community education in child survival and support a number of families home to malnourished children. The volunteers in this program realized that educating was not enough and together decided to grow nutritional crops from which they can feed the many malnourished children in their community. Supporting these children without any real income was their major inhibiting factor. Seeing the need, these volunteers were placed into an AfricaWorks crop production program in order for them to earn a sustainable income to support themselves, their families and those they have been helping through the World Relief Child Survival program.
Each beneficiary has 2000m² of land plot.
