The name Tixirika means dedicated in the work.

The association Tixirika in Licilo, started in 2008 through the World Relief Thsembeka project. The volunteers involved in Tshembeka were educated on home based care for those affected by HIV/AIDS. These volunteers also support a number of orphans and sick people yet had no real income.

The irrigation scheme has now provided them with the opportunity to earn a sustainable income and support those affected by HIV/AIDS in their community. They have recently come up with the concept of “The Orphans Stomach”, a place where orphans can come to collect food when they need it. Each client in Licilo has agreed to donate 2 kg’s of everything they harvest to the Orphans Stomach in order to keep a stocked source of food to feed those in need. 

Each client has 2000m² plot of land.
